Sarah Kate's Update

We were so surprised and thankful to receive such
a quick update.  Even though, the SWI didn't exactly
answer the questions we sent, they did give a little update.
We also received this sweet little picture
and two rather long videos!
Isn't she precious?!!

I love her little smile and her beautiful eyes!  Sarah Kate is 23 months old.
Her medical file states her special need is "dislocated hips and varus of knee."
However, her update says she has "congenital absence of pelvis."
 Anybody have any insight here?
Regardless, we did not expect her to be walking, and this little chair is a little
wheelchair.  We have an AWESOME orthopedic who has an AWESOME nurse at Children's Hospital and an equally INCREDIBLE hand surgeon over at St. Vincent's E., so I believe
whatever her situation, we are in good hands.
And the best hands of all belong to our Lord, the One who has given her to us!
Thanking Him!!!
P.S.  Angela at Ladybugs n Love is the one we have used for all our care packages and updates.  She is wonderful!  I cannot say enough good things about her service!

New Pics of Ruthanne!

We are thrilled to receive an update on our little Ruthanne!  We had heard that her orphanage didn't send updates too often, so I wasn't holding my breath.

But tonight I opened my inbox to the most detailed update I've ever recieved from an orphanage, and some great pictures!

Just look at this cutie!

And look at this winning smile!

Her nannies seem to have a lot of positive things to say about Ruthanne.  Here is a little exerpt of how they described her:

"She is very beautiful. She has two black pearl eyes, has sweetest smile. She is simply beautiful. There is no doubt that she is a lovely and pretty girl. But the nannies even like her personality and good temper. Yan Ling is hopeful, extroverted, active and full of energy. Yan Ling is easy going, gentle, and affectionate. Yan Ling is really close to her nannies."
It is wonderful to read what the orphanage has to say about our sweet baby girl, and there were some encouraging notes that sound like she is hopefully bonding with her nannies.  We have much to be thankful for!
Ruthanne, we can't wait to come get you!!!

What We've Been Up To in the Summer of 2012

This summer was the first in 5 years that we took
a significant break from school.
We decided to take all of July and August off
to give plenty of time to work in the garden.
Obviously, we took time to do a lot
of other fun things, too!
We shopped with friends!
Played outside!
Went to the zoo!

Gabriel went mobile!
Hung out with friends.
Recovered from hand surgeries.

And celebrated 4 birthdays!
Mary Grace turned 11.
Hannah, my baby our oldest turned 16.

Joshua turned 13.

Micah turned 3.

Micah's birthday was spent in the mountains!

We had a blast in the Smokies!

And just watched in utter amazement at how our kids keep growning and learning. . . .
Oh, and I've spent a lot of time filling out paperwork for our 2 new sweeties. . . . :)
It's hard to believe that next summer they will be home with us!!!

Two Less!!!

Or is it "two fewer?"
Regardless, we have an annoucement!
We are over the moon excited that we have been
blessed with a second daughter!
It feels very much like a miracle to be
given the privilege of this very wonderful honor.

Sarah Kathleen!
We will probably include part of her Chinese name,
and we plan to call her Sarah Kate.

She is almost 2 years old, so when we travel
(probably late spring) she will be 2.5 yrs old.
Her new sister

is now 13 months old, and she is
Ruthanne Yanling!

We will call her Ruthanne,
although the consensus around here
thinks "Ruthie" has a nice ring to it!

You Must Read This

I know I need to share more about our little blessing, and I will very soon.

Tonight, though, I wanted you to hop over to my friend Sonia's blog and read her recent post.  Sonia and her husband adopted 3 sons last year, all within about 9 months.  She has an enormous heart for orphans, but, most importantly, she loves the Lord.

Her posts usually leave me cracking up, but this one in particular sums up so well why those who go to great lengths to bring home a waiting child do what they do.
